Just got home from Calgary. Prices at home haven't changed but I hit a station about an hour out that was at $0.809/litre or $2.56 US/US Gal. Needless to say the tank got stuffed.

We're holding steady at $2.21/gallon in Rochester.

Fox News ran a ticker with the gas tax rate for every state in the US last night. It was very interesting. NY and CA pay over 60 cents per gallon. us in MN only pay 40 cents per gallon....yet we are 60 centa a gallon cheaper than San Diego.

Competition? Demand? quite a difference in price. I know you can go 70 miles north of here and drop about 5 cents a gallon. Odd, because you have increased demand and increased competition. You also have the same on the west coast -- higher demand and competition than Rochester -- and yet instead of lower prices, they are much higher.

I have my own ideas why, but it'd be interesting to see what others think.

It'd be interesting to see more responses on this thread and compare other states.

$2.42 for 93 octane
$2.26 for 87 octane

My VW runs on premium, so it's 93 for me.

I'm not paying anything right now because I hit a deer yesterday. Totally ruined the front left end of my BRAND NEW 2005 CRV. Only 8,000 miles.

I'm alright, but the deer could use a few aspirin I'm sure. I was going 55mph.

Gas in these parts is around $2.20.

Oh man, I feel your pain. Around here deer are bad; a short drive into the mountains and the hazards are worse. A full-grown mountain sheep can take out a full-size SUV as easy as *that* (snap fingers). They are short enough that mostly they just take out the grill, rad, hood, and all those various bits and pieces around the front of the engine block.

Elk are worse though... they love the pre-dawn and the problem is that they are tall enough they'll either come through the windshield or smash down the roof right where the front seat is. We won't talk about moose.

Lots of lights, lots of eyeballs, and SLOOOW DOWN around those hours. Hope your car is repairable.

Yes, me too - I'll find out tomorrow. I was thinking that if I were in a smaller car, the deer would have come straight into my windshield. Scary stuff. I will be much more careful now.

Not that I wasn't earlier though - Somethings you just can't avoid, unfortunately. Thinking it over I'm not sure there was much more I could have done.

I'm grateful that it wasn't any worse. My god - a moose...yikes.
