I don't know him personally. I do find his posts informative and I've no truck with the tone of his posts either. My experiences reading what he has written, and any back and forth if there has been any, I can't recollect precisely at the moment, have been enjoyable and worthwhile. Regards, Richard Oliver

I had a few encounters with "Nonsense Eliminator", and had no problems with him. In fact, I even pointed out that one of his posts was nonsense and that he should eliminate it. He agreed and thought the comment was pretty funny. Anyway, as I said before, I'm me. Since others have presented their credentials, I'll throw a few of mine out there (actually, I have only a few). As noted above, former 3rd trumpet with the Huntsville Symphony, 2nd trumpet with the Huntsville Chamber orchestra, 4th trumpet with the Richard Cox orchestra, and 1st trumpet with Sentimental Journey big band. Presently Bb cornet with Olde Towne Brass, 2nd cornet with the Brass Band of Huntsville, 2nd trumpet with First Baptist Church Orchestra. My claims to fame - OTB has sold thousands of CD's, I played in a movie that was never released

Edit: I believe he also lists the URLs of both of those organisations as his signature line. Last edited by Tootsall; 02-19-2007 at 08:30 PM.

Since Huntsville is about 10 times larger than Port Hope, Ontario, that would put the Huntsville Symphony at lesat in the 2nd tier, don't you think? Greg

| Forte User | Re: Who are the people that post here? I've been here a while now. It took a while for me to put my name in my signature, but then Manny pulled a really tight (in a good way) April Fool's joke. Long story short, my real first name came out. I'm still a bit hesitant to use my full name...not really sure why. I'm a teacher. I've been soing that for about 15 years now. I played once with the Adirondack Chamber Orchestra (a group that existed for the duration of a coral conducting workshop); a few times with the Orchestra of Northern New York, and currently with the Northern Symphonic Winds. I guess if Robert White is 3rd rate, I must be about...licking the soles of his shoes, I guess. Fame and fortune, fame and fortune...

![]() | Re: Who are the people that post here? Heh, I never thought anyone was interested in my real identity. I think people are being a bit harsh on Nonsense Eliminator, his heart is in the right place, and if he has a tiny of an ego, then he's no different to the rest of us. As for calling Orchestra's "third rate" etc, in this day and age anyone who is making a good living music is doing well. Getting a seat in any Orchestra is so competitive, it/he does deserve credibility. Actually thats one of the reasons I don't use my real name, even though most people know where I work etc, I don't want the whole "who do you think you are" interogation. |

I use this name because it saves me from having to remember what my username is on each place I visit. It is unique and makes me easily identifiable. And now a little about me I am a 4th year jazz student in college in Toronto. Outside of school I have played in big bands, marching bands a symphony and anything else I can get my hands on. In school I have played in brass choirs, symphonies, concert bands, big bands -where I got to perform with people such as Dave Holland, Michael Brecker, Rob McConnell, Guido Basso, Rene lee and Bill Holman. I have also played for Oscar Peterson, Dave Douglas, and this year I am playing with Randy Brecker. I also have played in a three musicals- Wizard of Oz, Les Mis, and one written by a teacher at my high school that used music from many famous Bob Fosse shows. I double on Tuba. After I graduate, I will either go to teachers college to become a high school teacher specializing in Music and Biology, or I will go to Keyano College in Alberta for instrument repair. I have taught trumpet and trombone privately, but currently due to scheduling I do not have time to take on any students. I also have a passion for arranging. I have arranged for many formats, but the highlight of my arranging so far I think is selling my first brass quintet to a very well known Toronto based group. I also have recorded an arrangement which will be played on the JazzFM, the Toronto based jazz station. I think that even though I am in college, I have a pretty wide spectrum of experiences to draw upon when I answer questions. A lot of the questions I answer are questions that I have asked my teachers in past years.
