Just to dispell a myth, since many folks have not actually held an Eclipse in their hands nor seen one in person. It is NOT a tunable bell. REPEAT: IT IS NOT A TUNABLE BELL. The rear crook is where the tuning slide is, then there is a brace attached to a brass "sleeve" of sorts - one end is the tuning slide receiver and the other end is where the bell is attached. At no time time does the bell move on these horns. I just had to clarify this because I have repeatedly read on the boards that folks are under the impression these horns use a tunable bell configuration. I assure you, that is not the case.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.....

ECLIPSE CONTEST!!!

Re: 2007 Eclipse Contest!

To add to what Alex said about Leigh's design vs "tuneable bell"... you'll note that (all?) tuneable bells also have a "regular" tuning slide (either regular or "reverse") between the leadpipe and the 3rd valve. Not so with Leigh's ... one continuous run of tubing from the venturi all the way to the valve casing ferrule. That really seems to add to the stability of the individual notes and their accurate placement with the total elimination of the "internal bore steps" that would otherwise exist.

And, unless the Eclipse has had the Will Spencer modification which allows for quick bell switching, the bell is solidly attached to the valve block/lead pipe rather than being "clamped". No worries about the relative "fragility" of regular "tuning bells".

Re: 2007 Eclipse Contest!

Hi All

No i am not dead! as a few people have mentioned via the web.

I am still alive and kicking and eager to give away an instrument to the person with the best entry for this years, Trumpetmaster/ Eclipse contest.

Rules and regs will be forthcoming (be patient please)

Eclipse are doing it a little different this year as far as the prize is concerned.
We will show you the prize at the start of the contest rather than make it after.
We are extremely busy at the moment with ongoing orders of the Eclipse range which is why i have not been able to post at all.

I would like to thank Trumpetmaster for being so patient with me and allowing me to continue this contest on their site! THANKYOU

I have spoken to the powers that be at Trumpetmaster and explained that the prize and the rules will be up in around 2 to 3 weeks time.By then i will have finished the prize.

As usual i wish each and every one of you the very best of luck.
Please do enter as everyone stands the same chance of winning! it has always only been about having some fun and if you search back into the history of the contest i think you will see that we have had just that.

Best Wishes to all, and glad to be back

Leigh
