![]() | Re: 2007 Eclipse Contest Entries Go Here! Task 1. The Funny Photo: ![]() "Boy, this is a real mess! I've told him time and time again not to chew bubble gum while he's playing his trumpet." -the Trumpet Janitor Task 3. Back to School: ![]() There's nothing worth making if it's not made with duck tape. This is my "DIY Ducktape Trumpet" It's made out of electrical conduit and DUCK TAPE. It doesn't play, but at least it's recognizable as a trumpet. Mandatory A: Michael Anderson, a hard working farmboy, just can't get enough music. I'm not talking about what the hip-hop generation calls music. He wants the real stuff. He doesn't listen to it. He makes his own. Michael plays french horn in the high school band and trumpet in marching and jazz band. He also plays the piano tolerably well though he's never taken lessons. He plays by ear. Finding his mother's old clarinet, he picked it up, started playing around with it and out came a recognizable tune. I guess what I'm trying to get across is that the boy has an innate musical talent that we are trying to nurture and an insatiable appetite for new musical experiences. He is even contemplating a career in music. He would do you proud as winner of an Eclipse trumpet. -Tim Anderson (my dad) Mandatory B: The best, and only experience of mine in the world of music related to trumpet, is playing in the half-time shows at the Friday night football games. We lost all but one or two games, but it was still great to play during half-time. Even if it wasn't the only experience I had, I'd still probably say it was the best because of the chance to play loud and all the concentration devoted to marching AND playing at the same time.
