| Re: The $50 Trumpet Experiment [Image Heavy] Looks like a cool project and you are doing some nice work. I would certainly give you more than $60 for the modified horn. You can PM me if you ever want to sell this or another project, and we can work out details. |

| Mezzo Forte User | Re: The $50 Trumpet Experiment [Image Heavy] Thanks a lot!. I wouldn't be doing it if it weren't fun. Fortunately it is also educational, and will help with my career (I hope) Quote:
I checked the alignment in the down position and it all comes up nice and aligned. I haven't had a chance to get the boroscope out and check the up position yet. Today I made a sheet brace for the front that matches the back one, only smaller. I will put a picture up later today. After play testing it, it was too dull sounding now which could be caused by a few things. Tomorrow if I have time I will try different placements of the brace, as well as making a smalled version of the brace to see if it was the mass of the brace that is causing it to be dull.

EDIT: As promised, here are two pictures of the new front sheet brace. It took me about half as long to make this one as it did the last one because I had an idea of what I was doing, and the solder was much easier. ![]() ![]() Last edited by Brekelefuw : 02-27-2008 at 07:24 PM.

![]() | Re: The $50 Trumpet Experiment [Image Heavy] Keep up the good work. I had the pinky ring moved toward the third valve to better fit my hand. That might help you with the ferrel. You are definately doing cool things. Time to buy an oscilloscope so you can visualize what is coming out the bell. |

| Re: The $50 Trumpet Experiment [Image Heavy] No way man, got an oscilloscope then, put the 'scope in X-Y mode, and take your signal, and that goes on one axis, then a pure sine on the other. If you know the freq of the pure sine, you have a VERY accurate way of measuring freq. And you can see how close to a pure since the horn's putting out. But mainly, it LOOKS COOL! |
