![]() | "Atlantis". Perhaps it should be lost. I think the thread has been a good one. It shows what the Chinese/India horn makers will do to sell junk. I go through eBay quite a bit. Pages and pages of junk horns. I feel sorry for those beginning students that get horns that won't slot, play in tune, may have bad valves, etc. M&C

| Piano User | Re: Allora I just found one of these Allora horns in a pawn shop today. It looks nice, but over priced at $699 I didn't have a MP with me but I borrowed one from another case and I can say this much... While I am not a pro player and I can make almost anything sound nice, I really liked this horn! Felt a lot like my strad and was NOT stuffy at all. I'm going back in a few days with my MP and try to get a deal. After all, it had more dust and tarnish and I suspect it had been sitting there for years. I'm shooting for $200 cash and carry! Then I can put my Bundy away! LOL Cheers |

![]() | Re: Allora Hi, Tootsall, You haven't angered me, but my wife is not happy with you as she owns an Allora flugelhorn that she likes. She was read your description of your friend's horn and said her Allora never acted that way. I think you made her more neurotic and I'm having to deal with the aftermath. I told her to put her Allora in the closet and go play her mandolin until she cools off. Does Allora make mandolins? Best wishes for your vision appointment. Maybe the optometrist plays Allora, too. ![]() | Re: Allora Wow - they were selling Alloras just last year....... The only time I've ever seen horns being sold at Costco, it was from a Yamaha dealer that was there for the week promoting the Q class when they came out. Those are pretty nice student horns - the trumpet was desgned in part by Bobby Shew, and has a some of the features in the upper models. Good deal for $350 - definately not chinese or india-made crap!

| Mezzo Forte User | Re: Allora Nice website, Doc. I have it bookmarked. With a huge market in the US, we are bound to be a target for crummy instruments. It's too bad the "big boxes" add to the problem. Of course, we can all point to many products that in that category, both in stores and on the net. Hope your back situation is better. I belong to Bugles Across America also and did one here in Kalamazoo last summer. There have been extensive threads talking about the bugling problems and the use of electronic ones, etc. I agree, that Allora rip-off is really bad. Hope WWBW picks up on that. From the first post I could sense something was rotten, not in the state of Denmark, either. |
