ahhhh....you could change the valve springs....? No? Would cost you like $3....

Re: Andreas Eastman Trumpets

Ten days ago I received my Eastman Cornet from Warburton and Iīm very happy with it. All good things Gnochi says about the trumpet can be said about the cornet.I changed the top to a 3XD
and sound is beautiful with very good slotting. Tuning is so good no corrections need to be maid.Like somebody said "if Warburton is selling them they canīt be bad" For me, itīs better than expected.

I'm real interested to see the significance, if any; of whether they could be TLC'd a little by a Taylor, or Harrelson and be everything a custom is? Seems reasonable i suppose, and moot point in any event. As well, whether cryo. would be ample in this instance, and void the need of any tweaking at all? Particularly given Claude's reference of things as they stand.

I have actually thought of it and even doing a valve alignment, but the horn is so good that I don't want to alter anything for fear of ruining it! Incidentally, I tried the "pro" model (520, I think...) at Chuck Levin's the other day, and believe it or not, I liked how my "intermediate" model plays better....... Are you THE Chris Chromer of "A Minor Tune Up" in Delaware?

No, that's not me Claude. I'm here in Balto, last name of Priddy. I may well try to get some people together and start a Shop though. Course, it sounds like Eastman's already partly accomplished my reasoning for attempting it. An inexpensive high dollar sound seems to be their facility to the T.

As it is, i sure understand not wanting to ruin a piece of equipment. And no question in my mind cryo. would 'alter' the horn, if done right. Which could easily be a bad thing depending on somebody's subjective ear and wants of playability. I read here in a cryogenic thread that the valves get super fast, and might not add up for a lot of players. Which comes to the fact that Eastman's student horn is a better sound for you. That's very cool stuff! My meaning's that i'm just now starting to get that Trumpets arun't necessarily limited by build circumstance.

Re: Andreas Eastman Trumpets

Chris: If you can open a good shop, such as those in NY and NJ (Dillons, etc.) in Baltimore, that would be great. I have sent many horns to out of state guys and they are great (Chris Chromer, Harrelson, Landress) but it is a pain to have to package and ship the horns. BTW, there was a good little shop near Baltimore, but it seems like they "fizzled out" (I forget their name...).

Incidentally, I do have about 30 horns, from two custom Harrelsons, to Martins to a new B&S JBX, and my favorites are still the Eastman and a recent older (80s?) Selmer Bundy (designed by Bach). These horns were probably made with much more hands-on loving artisanship than most horns today....\

To check some of my horns and music out go to myspace The CTS Group with Claude G. Some interesting photos there....

Eastman Winds

-Not sure of the Shop you speak to Claude. I'd bet Tony D. would know. Seems it should have done well. Course, like any town, Baltimore's particular about things. By example, people here love Football and Baseball, but you couldn't pay most to catch a Basketball game. :) Which is hard to believe, given there's no greater gifted athletes in the world, than Pro. Basketball Players. Not sure how the parallel translates- maybe Tony could say on his Maryland thread. Nonetheless, it's great stuff that an Eastman's comparable to a Harrelson. My similar thinking for a Shop's ambitious, and there's impracticalities to overcome, but i'm trying to focus it a bit. I got a lot of help on molding it here in the Wannabe Trumpet Builder thread. I'm going to pm over later. I'd bet you'd have some suggestions and insight given your floor plan on CTS.

Harrelson, Taylor, Landress, Monette artistry and innovation, at Eastman prices is the incentive. But again, argument that build circumstance is significant of 'better' is a false start. But i can't help but get high on the concept of affordable fine quality.

Talk later, Chris
