Bach model 182

I'm trying out an old bach 182 flugel horn. Can anyone give me some info. about these horns ? It plays very well, but isn't much to look at. Is this a professional model strad ? I think the price is good, and like I said, it plays good. Also, does this horn take a flugel horn mouthpiece ? Thanks, Jim <><

Re: Bach model 182

Trumpet01,
Yes, the Bach 182 is a Stradivarius, meaning it is absolutely a professional grade flugel. It accepts a standard flugelhorn mouthpiece. If it plays well and the price is right, then go for it.
I've heard very good things about these models, and also have heard some less-than-enthusiastic responses. However, if it plays well for you, get it before it's gone!!! I play an older Yamaha flugel, and absolutely love it. The 182 is a smaller bore flugel.

Best of luck, and have fun!!!

Re: Bach model 182

I have one of those...it plays great. Nice sound and about as in tune as a flugel can get. If you found another like mine and you like playing it, go for it. They don't all play like that...

To be honest with you I don't see many Bach Flugels around. I didn't know they were any good.

The 182 is a funky old cornet-style flugel with a .459" bore -- large for a flugelhorn. The 183 is a more standard design with a small .401" bore.

Oops, mine's a 183, not 182. Still, if it plays good...
