I'm having a horn re-done by Steve Winans (Dr. Valve), I'll let you know how it comes out!

Don't make price your top priority. If you can't afford to have one of the top techs do the work, then leave it as is until you can afford to have it done right. Trumpets are precision machines that deserve attention from skilled, knowledgeable, professional craftmen.

I hate reading these stories of irreplaceable classic trumpets ruined by wannabe "repairmen."

oldlou has a spectacular aura about
Price the only criteria

I have no intention of sending my old Martin to any but a top technician who has proven himself to the brasswind playing public with superlative work. I know that there are many such techs arround. The one from this list who might be lower priced will probably get my horn to work on.

Dave's got that right. How many times have we heard horror stories about guys not being happy with getting the job done when they picked the lowest price or the greatest promises? "You get what you pay for", ESPECIALLY when it comes to craftsmanship.

Have to step in here regarding Charlie, he's the best. To date he has done 4 horns for me, beautiful job, professional work and great communication, shipping etc.
