It is very sad. Many of my friends here in Grand Rapids, Mi. worked there for many years. In my 'accumilation' I have a Yamaha trumpet made in their first Grand Rapids plant, Gene Pilchuk and Wendell Harwood in a corner of the basement at Ferrell Music Store, a git fiddle store. They were assembling brass parts shipped in from Japan. The moveout by Yamaha has definately hurt the rather fragile economy of this area quite heavily and put a lot of people out of work.
