after having owned both horns and now deciding i prefer the chicago, i would absolutely beg to differ with you! the new york has a more diffuse quality with an overall warmer timbre while the chicago is more of a precision tool with a more concise(hi-energy brilliance) sound and a super defined core of sound. the yamaha chicago artist model Bb definitely lights-up quicker and distinguishes itself from just about any other horn in this manner. to me it also is a more efficient blow in the sense that you can create more energy with less effort... in this sense, the chicago has no peer!!!!
the finest Bb i've ever played hands down!
p.s. after having owned a vintage 1, i'll say the conn is sorta like taking a big buick to the race track as opposed to an audi R8 or porsche 911 GT3(chicago artist).
