| Forte User | Haven't you read the article about how Resno Tempered bells came to be called that? Apparently one of the guys that worked for him was named Resno (last name I think - please, if I'm screwing this up, bail me out and correct me!) and he did some final work on the bell before it went on the trumpet and the whole "Resno-Tempered" thing was done up as a marketing ploy. Essentially, it means nothing. It is little more than a catch name stamped onto the bell. Again, I may have screwed that up in the retelling, but I think that it's pretty close.

![]() | up to just recently the older Benges were my favorite horn - I would go on horn safaris and after a while go back to my trusty Benge. ( Schilke-Bel Canto- Bach- Besson, ect. I just loved the sound I got with the Benge. Note I loved that sound and every body wants a different sound so no horn will fit every body. The resno bell gave me a great big band type sound but I blended in every style of band by using my ear. To each his own so have fun picking the horn that fits you best. old geezer Dave

![]() | I have been playing a Mt. Vernon and just love the warm rich tone I get with that horn, but this past week end I played 5 shows with the Shrine Circus and took out my trusty Benge 3MLP and that horn absolutely sings. I just purchased a Ken Allen trumpet and it has a sound about half way between my Bach and my Benge. Sent it to Melk for valve re-plating and alignment, can't wait to get it back. It just might replace my Benge for big band jobs. Our search for the perfect horn never dies. old geezer Dave
