 | eBay Kanstul mellophone Vintage Kanstul Custom Class Cornet Trumpet - eBay (item 160238850702 end time May-15-08 16:07:09 PDT) Although the eBay seller calls it a cornet, it looks like the Kanstul mellophone at Kanstul Marching Mellophone - KMM 281 A Google search shows that new ones cost maybe $1,500? I thought about bidding on it, but then I discovered that the smallest Bach mellophone mouthpiece is 18.3 millimeter diameter, versus the 16.2 millimeter diameter of the Bach 7 I am used to. I do not want to use such a large diameter mouthpiece as required for a mellophone. So I am alerting y'all to the eBay item in case you would be interested in it. | Re: eBay Kanstul mellophone Just 5 hours left in the auction, bidding is now at $172. That bell is almost 11 inches in diameter! I would *love* to put my extra-shallow Weril W46 trumpet mouthpiece on that thing and see what the high notes sound like.  - Morris |

| Re: eBay Kanstul mellophone I think it's actually easier to scream on the mellophone with normal trumpet mouthpiece rather than a shallow one. Either way, it may not the most tasteful thing in the world, but it's most definitely fun! |
