Not usually but on very special orders yes. My LR has a slightly more open leadpipe on it. (and feels very comfy)

Cheers,
T

Live and learn Dave eh?

I can't add much here at all. I played Alex's and I have to say I just love it. It wasn't made for my hands though. As you might imagine I'm a big guy. Alex is a regular sized woman. So when I pick up her Eclipse horns and play them it's like putting a pocket trumpet in my hands.

They do play great though.... I'm looking so foward to my next lesson with Alex shortly...

Good luck in your search..

Yes Trent, I have a standard leadpipe on my C. (I believe it is a 2.5???) Also, I think you would really like a red bell on it. My C originally had an MY and we changed it to an MR bell. It made all of the difference (for me and Leigh). The blow is easy and open without feeling like you're falling into the horn. The sound is full of overtone "faeries" floating around your head and out into the hall. I love it!

40Cal - some of the questions you asked deal with custom made horns. For most folks, it is not necessary to have custom work done on the Eclipses to get the sound and color they want. An Eclipse off the bench plays wonderfully. My MS was meant to be a bench horn and I just had to have it because it played so well. Infact, the only "custom" work on my horns is where the rings are situated (so it fits my hand perfectly). If you do want custom work done, then it is best to make an appointment to fly to the UK and consult with Leigh yourself. That is the only way to get it done down to the smallest specifications. Also, most folks I know getting custom work done already own one or two Eclipses and know what they are looking for in tiny detail.

Alex, I appreciate your input....I'm always looking for "something different". Whether it is in a custom firearm, or trumpet etc...

If I do go the eclipse C trumpet route I will most likely go w/the MR....the MR Bb I played was fantastic and the MY I own is top notch. I think the sound color for me on the MR would fit my playing style and the context in which I would use the horn a bit better than a C w/an MY. I'm looking ahead, since Jason Harrelson still has my Kanstul C so I'm waiting to see how that turns out.

On a side note (since it is the same trumpet company I'll leave it in this thread) any word on if/when an eclipse piccolo trumpet will come out?

You are wise to go with the MR on the C trumpet. It is a great match. It blends wonderfully with Bachs as well.

Piccolo...hmmmm....I don't want to speak for Eclipse, but I would suspect some time in 2007. That is just a guesstimation. Ultimately, one will not be available until Leigh is 110 % happy with the instrument. That is what makes his instruments of such high quality. I am just as excited as you because I know in the end it will be an excellent trumpet and one that I will enjoy playing.

I've played Alex's C too. First if all it is a lot smoother playing than my 229/25S. I'm not fighting the horn. The E/Eb is way more in tune with normal fingerings, don't remember listening closely to the G. The sound is more colourful(overtones) than my Bach. My horn sounds stuffy compared to the it.
