Re: Eclipse owners, help?

Brad, that's actually why I'm kind of wondering if I SHOULD go with the interchangable design. I'm thinking just to pick one in the middle of the road and go with it...it would save me a big chunk of change, and probably some frustration. And...Mark....shhh...nobody's supposed to know about the JD. :) Lol.

Just adding my vote for bright inner bell finish. It really looks great with scratch or satin finish

Re: Eclipse owners, help?

Thanks Greg...I was in the middle of tossing up that, and having the horn full scratch gold, kind of like the Monette look. however, I think I'll want to have the receiver, caps/buttons, and inner bell polished.

Re: Eclipse owners, help?

I cant agree with Brad more. I think we all get hung up on the part of the horn instead of what should be coming out of it. Best of luck.

True there...that's what's kind of making me lean towards just getting something in the middle of the road and running with it.

Russ..you are at least looking at an incredible line of instruments. With the guidance of the folks associated with Eclipse, I don't see how you could go wrong.

Just don't get too caught up in all the intricacies. Get back to work in the practice room and gigs/concerts/whatever. Make some music.

Whatever you decide...I wish you the best.

Re: Eclipse owners, help?

Brad, I know exactly what you mean. I spoke with both Leigh and Noel today, and we have decided on just that...the MR with a scratch gold finish/polished accents. He has been fantastic, and having the input of a pro that's out there playing the horn helps a lot. Now, it's time to just relax for a few weeks...well, relax...and work my butt off to save for what balance will be left...:-D. I actually will have a wedding gig in August...playing Festive trumpet tune by dan miller for the processional...Bach's Bist Du Bei Mir for the candlelighting...and Mouret's Rondeau for the recessional---Rondeau really makes me wish I could borrow a picc from someone...the arrangement sits beautifully on it, on A picc...but all I have is an Eb, and this arrangement will take it up to a high C on the Eb...it's a very decorated arrangement of it too..by Chuck Seipp. Very nice though. Just out of curiosity, anyone that's been viewing this...what would you charge for a wedding set like that?? 3 songs, I'd do the rehearsal, and the wedding. Makes me wish I could rent a picc from somewhere..but nobody does a service like that, I suppose.

Russ

Re: Eclipse owners, help?

Russ,

Noel is a fantastic player, he is a top 1st call guy in the London music scene.

When you get your new horn, ask Noel for acclimation tips. He will tell you exactly how to approach playing your new Eclipse.

You can be just about 100% sure that Noel will play your horn before it leaves First Class Brass. (Eclipse)
