![]() | Only just saw this thread. Well i thought i better say that since ive been playing the Eclipse range of instruments, my playing has improved 500% Ive been to the workshops hundreds of times and always find the people there very helpful and very attractive, (apart from John) You can go there play some horns, drink their coffee, and you don't even have to buy one! how cool is that? Anyway that's what i think. Regards Leigh

![]() | Hey Slow down guy's! don't be jumping on planes just yet. Okay Jack i am holding you responsible for the FREE MUTES thing, Everyone and their mother will be making a beeline for me now for free mutes I'll send you the bill Jack. Hi Mike, there is only one person so far who has seen the new workshop outside of the Eclipse staff. Let me just say that he has more posts than anyone on any trumpet site! Not hard to guess that one ha! The workshop was almost empty when trumpetmike came over, but it is taking shape now very quickly indeed. I will post some pics real soon. Its around 3 times larger than the old place, much more modern. We are currently partitioning the players test room, then we are building a sound booth within it so the players can hear themselves from a slightly different perspective. I will fit this room out with audio equipment so that you can play along to background tracks and maybe even record yourself and playback. We at last have a proper nice office I am very excited about it Best Wishes Leigh

![]() | I don't drink coffee but I did take my Schilke B1 with me to the Eclipse factory last summer when I was testing flugels so I can give you some direct comparisons RichN. They sound different. In my opinion the Eclipse is a more versatile trumpet that will fit into more situations than my Schilke. The Schilke is a lightweight trumpet that is, as you say, very comfortable to hold. The Eclipse is heavier but is still comfortable and well balanced. Basically the Schilke is a very good trumpet but the Eclipse is better again. Like any trumpet it depends upon your sound concept but the Eclipse range has many different bell configurations and I would imagine the majority of people would be catered for and find the sound they are after. I played part of Haydn's Trumpet Concerto and the double tonguing was so much clearer and easier - the Eclipse basically plays better than my Schilke and maked playing easier for me. This unbelieveably carries through to my Eclipse Flugel which I bought. Lip slurs, trills, double tonguing all easier and sound better on my Eclipse Flugel than my Schilke trumpet. The Eclipse Flugel is also as responsive as my trumpet and yet still sounds wonderfully warm and "flugelly"! A flugel has no right to be this good! Schilkes are great instruments but I cannot recommend Eclipses more highly - I think they are astonishing horns. Leigh, I am looking forward to visiting you this summer at your new factory to try out your new Cornet if it's ready, and to have another play on a Large Red....(which was my personal favourite of all his trumpets). Graham. |
