TM, The Equinox is an awesome trumpet! Because of its length, it brings the bell closer to the player, which makes playing it a much more intimate musical experience. It utilizes the Large Red bell, so the sound is warm and full, in the low/mid range. The Large Red has a more "silky" upper register, while the Equinox has a bit more brightness, in the upper register. The reason for that is that the energy is being transferred to the bell section more quickly, because of the shortened leadpipe/main bend. I play the Equinox almost exclusively. The standard length trumpets look a mile long, at this point. More than any other factor, the Equinox is a lot of fun to play! That's what it's all about! Best always, Bruce

Equinox -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- bent trumpet Veteran Member Joined: Feb 12, 2003 Posts: 100 From: Chicago area Posted: 2003-11-19 14:20 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I want to thank Bruce Lee, and let everyone know how helpful Bruce was with my purchase of an Equinox. The horn is so much fun to play, and it sounds great. The horn arrived very soon after ordering, and I am quite impressed with the construction and unique design. The only regret I have, is that I wish I would have ordered the horn with a lever water valve on the leadpipe. I never cared much for those amado (sp?) push button water keys. There are very few horns that I can remember enjoying as much as the Equinox. Thanks Bruce. I decided to move this post from TH because not many folks have an Equinox, and I just thought maybe this might pique your interest. It's nice to see folks outside the fam buying an Equinox. Meg Bent Trumpet: I know the feeling about wishing it had regular water keys. Rolling the horn (French Horn style) helps me to get rid of the water that collects in my Equinox. It is a beautiful horn, and my favorite horn, but I find that water collects in it like no other horn. Do you have the same experience? I use the Equinox exclusively because of its flexibility and dang it... it's just fun to play, huh? (My other horn is the best Bach 37 ever made, and I never touch it. Sad, huh?) Have fun with your Equinox. I'd love to see a pic of it. Meg

Cool. Meg, that equinox is tempting...especialy now that I'm going to Iraq. It is capable of the most beautifull music, but it can also really 'lay the smack down' on somebody if needed. When I was play testing it I decided to take it 'out of its element' for a bit, to explore the stratosphere....that is by far the loudest horn in the Eclipse line, quite possibly the most frighteningly powerful horn I have ever played. You would never know by looking at it, or hearing the silky smooth jazz stuff.....I have a feeling that pepole will be discovering new things about this horn for years to come.

Castle Bravo... you are SOOOOOO right! I have no problems with projection... and... I just love the way my Equinox sounds. I must say that it has spoiled me. I used to love my Bach 37, but I am sad to say that I don't really want to play it any more. Making music is just so much fun with my Equinox. Thanks for your kind words about my horn. Meg Be careful in Iraq.

It is a trumpet, James. This whole issue has been throughly discussed and finally laid to rest on the TrumpetHerald. Put "UsedBits" and "Equinox" in the search engine on the Herald. Yes, you are right. The Equinox is more compact and looks like a cornet. That, however, is the end of the similarities. To quote Henry Lowther, "It sounds like a MIGHTY trumpet!" I say it's the best FEREEEEAKIN' horn in the world! :P Meg

Hi, Marc! I didn't win the contest, so I did what any female trumpet player would do. I bit his arse. (I wasn't mean... just said that I was completely serious about the idea.) Anyway...Leigh caved. Yes, the first Equinox was built for me. At least I think it was. Actually, I'm not sure that I did get #1. There's this man in England... Henry Lowther... BUT that's another story... another time. Gotta get a game back to the video store by midnight! See ya, Marc! Meg

I looked on the testimonials page on the Eclipse site and the Equinox the man was holding looked like it had a larger than normal bell. Is this normal with the Equinox series. The bell looked larger than the bell on the other Equinoxes on the Equinox section of the site. Was it a custom thing? I am sorry if you already talked about this. Thanks, Tim
