Re: Getzen Piccolo

Actually, the 940 Eterna is not our top line piccolo. That would be the 3916 Custom Series long model. Have you tried one of those?

Hello @all others...

ok, may be I posted my opinion in a very rough way, sorry about that. But the facts because of which I criticized the Getzen 940 model stay the same. Just have a look ( or better an ear ! ) on intonation and sound of the masterclass Picc of Getzen ( Eterna-series )...AND compare it with other masterclass instruments, such as Stomvi Elite, Yamaha 6*** or 9*** series, with Kanstul, Schilke or others...so what ??? Money should'nt be an argument, I'll always prefere a more expensive instrument, if it is significantly better than any other...!!! Playing a piccolo is hard enough, so I do'nt need an instrument with intonation problems and a sharp and "steely" sound...
So I personally can't recommend a 940 picc...that's a decision of my own...nobody has to follow it !!!

all the best,

buccinator !!!
Have you tried it with the blackburn pipe though?

Re: Getzen Piccolo

Actually a picc is no harder to play than any other instrument. The piston valved horns are much brighter than the rotary counterparts.

Buccinator,
as far as my German goes, I wanted to have a special post just for you. I think that google translator would give anyone with the itch a good idea what I had in mind..............

It is always useful and fair to compare horns in comparable price classes. My original Selmer had a very bright sound and less than optimum intonation. Still no hate, it got the job done. Now I play one of my own design and have the best of all worlds. I still think that the Getzen is a great instrument at a fair price. Sorry to hear that you did not have the same luck that I did!
