Seriously, what the heck does a throat that big feel like. Does the air just get sucked out of your lungs or what? Joe Lewis

![]() | I'm not sure about exact prices. I'm not even sure if they still have them. I was there a while ago. Here's the website though: http://www.baltimorebrass.net/ Ask for Albert or Dave Fedderly. I studied with Fitz during my senior year of high school and all of my first year at Peabody. What a great teacher, trumpeter, and person! Please Please Please tell him that I said "hi"! Brent |

| New Friend | greetings - monette LT 2000 Hi Joe Lewis, believe me , no one will want something larger! It feels very very free blowing. The problem FOR ME, is that it consumes air very quickly so it got a bit though for me as principal trumpet in an orchestra having to deal with long and high passages! But it will give you the most lush sound you have ever heard. It is a treat to hear it ! Best, HeinzKarl. |

![]() | Manny, I am curious: Why did you go for the Prana 1 instead of a Raja type trumpet. I have a Prana C and I have played Charlie's C. Personally I like the heavier trumpets. I didn't understand until I played Charlie's. I don't think I could play a long concert on that trumpet but I never played anything so nice. So back on topic, why did you go to the lighter side? |

![]() | The Prana in its STC form seems to be a nice compromise between the sound I like and the sound that is accepted by most. The Raja was exclusively a rich, brilliant sound. It's hard to be the only one in the section playing one, so, it was just easier to go to something lighter but that still has the richness I so enjoy hearing. I once heard a trumpet quintet of three Rajas and two Flumpets playing and I truly have never heard anything as full and rich as that. It was gorgeous. It was at Dave's shop, a Brazilian composer wrote the piece. Positively brilliant! It was like there was an aural glow about the sound. So, my STC Prana fits the bill very nicely, I haven't heard any complaints yet and it's been two years. ML |

| New Friend | monette LT 2000 Hi Mr. L, yeah, I was one of the flumpets on that trumpet quintet! Matt Soneborn was playing second Flumpet and Charlie, Nailson Simoes and Dave Bamonte were the trumpets! It was quite a sound I remember! If I remember well, one of the first Samadhis was built for you, right? Isn´t that the one Matt eventually got? Have you ever catched any flacks for using the heavier horns? Later, HeinzKarl. |

A recording can never capture what happening in a live performance of a piece like this, especially with the line up of players who were playing. I’m also guessing that getting 3 Rajas and 2 Flumpets together is a VERY rare occurrence. I still think back to hearing Manny and Mike Thompson in Denver playing the Prana trumpets at the Monette clinic. If I take that experience and multiply it several times over, it probably would still pale in comparison to what this piece actually feels like in person. Any chance this could happen at a future ITG conference? That would be awesome!
