![]() | Re: It's official... Brad, congrats on the Stage 1 and thank you for the kind words. It has been said before, you wont find many people better than Felix to work with. I was VERY close to going with the rose brass bell on my horn, and actually do have rose brass on my C horn. That modular set up is a great way to fine tune what you want in a trumpet. Congrats again and hope to meet you sometime. Tony D |

I don't mean to keep rehashing...but I re-read your post and thought it might be interesting to some to read a reply. Just so folks know where I'm coming from. I have stated, several times, that I have been tinkering around with horns for the last 2 1/2 years. If I was going to make a change from my instrument of over 25 years, then it was going to have to be something that made me take notice. Over this past few years, I've played horns that were not very good...to me. I've played horns that had certain qualities that were appealing. (over all sound or valves or look or feel or projection or feedback...etc). However, I just never felt "totally" knocked out about everything all together. There were some "GREAT" aspects of some of the horns that I was really thrilled with. Just not everything in "one" horn. At least, not enough better than my dancing partner of the last 25 years. Still, it was a great education - one that I am forever grateful to Felix for affording me the opportunity to experience. With my present instrument, all this came together. I don't know if it had anything to do with comments I (and many others) made to Felix over the years that prompted this design. All I know is, this horn made it all work. Having the chance to play this instrument on a real world setting for a few weeks was also great to see if - what I thought in the practice room - would work the same on the job, where it matters most. To date, I continue to be surprised. I actually am still trying to break old habits because this new horn doesn't have them to fix. haha. It is a wonderful experience. I just want you all to know that my decision was based upon many trials. It was not one made because I "had" to have a new horn. I knew what I was looking for "if" I ever made a switch. Many I tried did not totally make it for me. Will what I've experienced happen to "everyone" who tries these horns? I don't know. Maybe... maybe not. Most I've seen play or heard from have had positive experiences. It actually puts a smile on my face to hear from friends and acquaintances recite the same analogies about their horns. No prompting...I just listen. There are some great instruments out there. The Stage 1 line is what I have gravitated to....and am very thankful.

![]() | Re: It's official... I can only agree totally with this post. I was not in a the market for a new horn when I met Felix. I had played the same horn for years and also was not ready to switch unless something was far above the rest. I lost track of the horns I tried out, and have even reviewed on this site. For me the Stage 1 stood above the rest. Glad to hear others are discovering these horns. Have fun and play everything you can!! TD |
