jhatpro will become famous soon enough
I went to Laskey for a mouthpiece, played his Bb, and left with one on order. Unbelievable horn! Sound is bigger and richer and the blow is easier than any horn I've played and that list is way too long.

Congrats on your new horn!

I would like to have a list of the pros who have their horns and who have had their own horns worked over and modified by Laskey and Pinc. I bet is might be impressive and long.

Have they told you who else owns their horns?

I tried one last week. I just ordered mine today. These things are unbelievable. Worth the money, IMHO.

Richard Oliver has a spectacular aura about
Dan Balmain writes on the Eclipse Trumpet website under "Eclipse C Trumpet Artist": My first impression of all the trumpets was the fantastic tuning. I play the C trumpet quite regularly and have always had to cross finger the usual troublesome notes. I couldn't believe they were perfectly in tune. Also the top of the instrument needs very little help.

I've never played an Eclipse. But when what he said is said of any C trumpet, a C trumpet buyer might perk up their ears. Do all Eclipse C's play in tune?

Happy Practicing,

Richard Oliver

Hello Richard! I am sorry for being so late in responding to this thread, but I have been overseas. The man you are quoting on the Eclipse site is Ian, not Dan, FYI. I can only second Ian's sentiments and say that these C trumpets are incredible. They have such a beautiful dimension of sound color, the slotting is dreamy and the intonation wonderful. The upper register "blossoms and rings" when you push it. It is a great feeling! I currently have an MR C and it compliments my MR Bflat to a tee. I have also played one with an MHY bell and heavy caps and liked it very much as well. It had a different character, but I still sounded like myself on it and could do all I wished. If I ever want a second C trumpet, I would be very interested in this configuration as well. Leigh is working on making more C trumpets available for folks to try here in the states. I will hopefully have a demo version of my instrument for folks to try sometime in the not so distant future.

Just a bit of info I wanted to add - these trumpets play wonderful right off the bench and do indeed open up a bit during the breaking-in period. Mine are almost three months old and have opened up quite a bit. It is good to keep this in the back of your mind when trying/purchasing new instruments.

Congratulations Josh! I bet you sound incredible on one of these. What exactly did you end up with? I knew Laskey would get his recipe right. He has been doing this for a long time. I ordered custom mouthpieces from him beginning in the early 80's. It is nice to see his dream of making fantastic C trumpets become a reality.

There seems to be a mistake here some how; so, may I ask that you two please remove your Eclipse posts from this thread to another thread dealing with Eclipse horns?

Thanks,

Liad Bar-EL

I am sure the moderator will take care of it. I have no way of moving my posts and don't think it is necessary to delete them. I was answering an Eclipse question and then realized the thread was about Laskey. Sorry Liad. No harm done. Back on track with Laskey.
