![]() | no if i had a million dollars i might buy one. cmcdougall makes sure everyone knows that hes getting a monette and he does his best to make sure everoyone knows they are better (supposedly) than anything they have. thats what i dont like. plus there are players that could play better on his strad than he can on a monette. It aint the horn, its the player. dave |

![]() | I have owned 2 Lawlers. The first was a Lawler LT21B-1A SLS Satin Gold, with the detachable bell and Samsonite briefcase. I bought it off of ebay having never played a Lawler, and I was hooked for life. It wasn't quite what I wanted as far as specs, so I traded it in for a brand new Lawler TL6R-1A, custom-made to my specs. My new Lawler is indeed the best horn I've ever played. It's redbrass bell is perfect for my concept of sound. I can get any sound I want, and the trumpet overall has a dark sound. The response is perfect. It has the perfect amount of resistance that I like. I was worried that a trumpet with a redbrass bell and dark sound wouldn't cut it for lead playing, but I have to admit this is the best lead-trumpet horn I've played since the Wild Thing. It's very easy to play, and it sounds so great. The tone cuts through just fine and balances very good with the rest of the section. Roy Lawler makes some of the nicest looking horns, but it's the way the respond and sound that is the true genius of his work. |

![]() | I own a large bore model T, and I'm very happy with it. I play a lot of lead, and it works well for that, but I really like how warm and even the sound is up until the upper register. As everyone says, the response is very nice, and in fact the only complaint at all that I could make about the horn is that it does not seem to slot Double G (G over High C) as well as some other horns that I've played. I'll admit, I don't have the best double G, but it locks in more consistently on most other trumpets for me. (I also gave the horn to my teacher, and he was having a similar problem) Although, the model T is the only horn I can get a Double A to come out on, so I guess you take what you can get. The sound is by far the most important part anyway. The one thing that I've noticed in the time since I ordered it, is that it keeps getting easier and easier to play as I become more attuned to it. |

![]() | Another thing about Roy Lawler. Recently I have been working with Roy, and the guy is really bending over backwards to make me feel satisfied. You'll be very hard pressed to get this type of service from any other trumpet manufacturer. I think this goes a very long way in today's business environment. Here's another pic of a Lawler ![]() |
