MF collection

Maynard Ferguson's family is selling MF's instruments, music collection, etc.
They want to sell the collection as a whole unit rather than piece-by-piece.

Re: MF collection

Thanks, Morris. Really incredible stuff. On one level it would be great to see a small museum set up to exhibit this material for fan's to visit, or some place like the National Music Museum to give it the prominence it deserves. It would sure make more sense to me than Elvis or Graceland, et. al. On another hand, some dedicated , rich, possessive Maynard fan could buy everything and no one would ever see them again, on another hand a buyer could turn around an auction off the stuff and give a lot more folks a chance to own something of the" Boss" history, etc. , or other scenarios.

Evidently the family wants to dispose of everything at once and have organized the event pretty well, I think. Let's hope for the best , respectful disposition of this rather sad chapter , coming up on the 2nd anniversary of his death in August.

I am in favor of someone setting up a museum.
If there is a Liberace museum, then there sure oughta be a Maynard Ferguson museum.

I can't help but think that a lot of this stuff is going to end up on E'bay. I sure hope a museum wins!

Re: MF collection

That would be nice. I see on the same subject thread on TH someone posted the family has rejected offers for all the stuff that were in the $600-700 thousand range.
