GordonH has a spectacular aura about
Re: monette prana..

MY first Monette mouthpiece was a B4LD that I used on my Selmer piccolo trumpet.
It was very very similar in size to an old style Bach 3c, the ones with the narrower rim from the 1960's.
The sound was darker than I would have expected from something sold as a lead piece as it is deeper than many of the L series mouthpieces.
I don't know if you ordered it in the lightweight or heavyweight blank.
Mine was in the lightweight, as I expect most would be.

Re: monette prana..

B4L and B4 are different rims
The B4L is narrower more like the old Bach 3c
The B4 is more like the current 3C

Re: monette prana..

Actually, equivalent to a Bach 1.5B. See Dave's site.

Re: monette prana..

Hi Mr Royal Lancer,
actually the published measurements do not reflect the "feel" of the mouthpiece. The B4 "feels" like the Yamaha 14/Bach 3c in size except that it has a bigger sound and I think the high range is much, much easier. The "feel" has something to do with the rim shapes.
Ordering a Prana as your first Monette mouthpiece means that you will need to do some healthy relaxing to get used to it. Read Monettes' web pages on body use and memorize them. That approach is critical to success!
