| Piano User | Re: New horn honeymoon, first gig, etc. Just curious as to what those minor tweaks might be...haha you finally have to make the decision!! I might have a job lined up, so gold might not actually be out of the question for me now, but I still think it would look better in the brushed lacquer/polished accents... Russ

![]() | Re: New horn honeymoon, first gig, etc. Well, here we are in the 6th week and I am still very happy with my new Stage 1. I have been playing it in many different sized groups and love the results I am getting from the horn. Today I substituted for a freind of mine in the Baltimore Basilica of the Assuption. After the recent renovation this place is beautiful, and talk about amazing accoustics!! Well, unfortunatly the music director was very unorganized (enough about that) and the other trumpet player liked to play really loud. One of the pieces we did, that we actually had music for, was "Fanfare for the Common Man - Copland". The Stage 1 sung over the crowd with ease. The unisons and tight chords where in tune and resonated. My wife was on the floor level and told me she loved the sound I was getting, that it blended but had a personality. This horn still impresses me with its ability to change tone color. I had some C trumpet stuff as well, which my Yamaha Xeno C did a fine job on. But I could tell I wasnt playing the Stage 1 (and so could my wife). I have also discovered I can push the tuning slide in much further than I usually do on this horn. I am able to relax and play in the center of the note, therefore not needing to pull out so far. I have heard of this happening on other high end horns, not to mention any names of horns made by a guy in Oregon or Tennessee. This seems to line up all of the notes more centered and resonant. Again, I am very happy with this trumpet. On a side note, the fact I have purchased such a nice trumpet has made me practice more efficiently and often. I want to play up to the ability of this instrument and am enjoying it a great deal. No matter the instrument dont forget why we all started to play in the first place, to have fun and feel good. |
