New Marcinkiewicz Flugelhorn

Marcinkiewicz Online
Joe just told me about his new horn. Its a new design (three shephards crooks...not the same old design. He told me that his absolutely plays in tune. The pictures on his site
are just beautiful. The horn is under the Instruments/Shephards Crook/Flugel section. As they are hand made, I am sure the line in forming as I write this post.

Re: New Marcinkiewicz Flugelhorn

The flugel I see on the site is the same version I bought in 2002 - I didn't see a newer one. However, I will say that this is the best flugel I have ever played, and I will never let it go! Mine is actually the 4th of this series Joe made - he made it as the demo for the shop, but sold it to me right there when I visited. It's an amazing horn and very well in tune -only one problem all the A's are flat! This may not be the case with horns he has made since then, but it still tunes better than a traditional flugel, and I don't ever have to use my slides, even on d and c#! It is, however, a large bore flugel, and some people are just not comfortable on them - personal preference only. Like I said, though, I love mine, and you'd have to pry it out of my cold, dead hands to get it!

Flugelgirl -

Do you have any recordings of you playing on your Marcienkewicz?

I haven't tried his horns yet - but everything I've heard about them is great.

Regards,

RGood (aka Bob)

Re: New Marcinkiewicz Flugelhorn

Now those two 4 valve horns, trumpet and flugel, are something to behold! Makes me wonder if it is impossible to build a 3 valver that is in tune top to bottom. My guess is yes.
