It says on it "International Sound" but I happen to know its from Jinbao.

That brings back lots of bad memories.

Re: New piccolo trumpet

it sounds like you are a fine player and that trumpet is not so fine. But for $400 not bad.

Here are some photos:

Picasa Web Albums - Gordon - Jinbao Piccol...

I now have an adaptor to fit my correct mouthpiece in it and it really does work susprisingly well.

More video clips will follow at some point.

Re: New piccolo trumpet

Can't wait to hear clips with a more appropriate mpc. I'd love a Scherzer but for the bread am sticking to my Schilke. If this has any of the rotary pic qualities I might pick one up.

I need some better way of recording, the microphone in that webcam is terrible.

Re: New piccolo trumpet

If you back up further away it might be a bit better. My camera is much more sensitive closer to the desktop.

I just ordered one of these pics as well. At the least I can probably sell it for a small loss if I don't like it. I've been drooooling about a Scherzer for a long time. I know this is going to be NOTHING like one but it might convince me I need one or maybe not.

I'll put up some clips when I get mine as well.

Thanks Gordon for the brave venture into these waters. Keep us posted!

Re: New piccolo trumpet

I (kidding thee not) bought a Jerome Callet Bb pipe for my Scherzer and was blown away with the results--he might be able to do the same sort of magic with some of the $2600 you save!

Re: New piccolo trumpet

They are always available on EBAY, for about $400. Buying trumpets and mouthpieces on Ebay is terribly addicting. Once you start, it is hard to stop.

Have fun guys. I look forward to hearing more clips.

Re: New piccolo trumpet

I found out that Scherzer made one with that size of bore when they were
still in East Germany. It was sold for export under various brand names
including "Melton". So the chinese ones may be copies of those older models.
