New Trumpet

I think this is the right place to post it, am new to these sorts of groups but ne way.

Ive been playing eleven years on the same trumpet and now im off to uni i thought i would treat my self to a new instrument, does ne one have ne recommendations that i should look at?

I love the sound from the Gansch-Horn that Thomas Gansch uses in Mnozil Brass, where could i get it from n how much? Does ne one else have one?

Advice would be much appreciated.

Re: New Trumpet

My experience has been that players can get "their" sound on just about any instrument, and the equipment used is chosen because of response, intonation, and uhh, well, the way they ease production of the player's sound.

Having a Ferrari won't automatically make me drive like Michael Schumacher.

If you want to dream, however, check this out: Schagerl Austria Meisterinstrumente

Re: New Trumpet

You risk a thread with 1000 posts of everybody´s darlings ;o)

Everyone has different preferences, so you need to find out yours.
Go to a music store with lots of trumpets and try to find out, if you like light-, regular-, heavyweights, tight or open trumpets etc.

As example I prefer lightweight, and often when collegues are testing my trumpets they at once say....these are not for me.

Re: New Trumpet

Try as many trumpets as you can get you`r hands on. Rember what you hear on recordings are played by specialists i.e. lead orchestral jazz you so don`t buy something because so and so play`s one, buy the oe that gives YOU what you want so try them all good luck.

Re: New Trumpet

If you want to sound more like Thomas Gansch, you don't need his horn, you need regular lessons from him.
Here is where you can get a hold of him:

Gansch and Roses

Good Luck!
