![]() | Re: The perfect trumpet Getzen is a great horn. Enjoy it! The perfect trumpet, to me, is the one I can't keep off of my face. If it really motivates me to practice and play more and better, that is perfect.

![]() | Re: The perfect trumpet This is the perfect trumpet. If you played it you might weep.It sings with no effort, it plays every note with ease, it slots perfectly, has beautiful tone, and it makes (Me) you feel as if you are a great player. I feel confident in this assessment ESPECIALLY since I DON'T hit the Arban or spend a lot of time practicing, rather I just pick it up several times a day and play whatever comes to mind. It is amazing...Of course this is just my opinion. 1935 or so Olds Super recording trumpet-raw brass ![]()

![]() | Re: The perfect trumpet I'd go with a Lawler if you want an all around player. You could find a used one if you look around or a new one would be close to your budget plus Roy is a great person to work with on finding the right horn for you.

![]() | Re: The perfect trumpet I would suggest working out what you want to sound like, get that sound concept developed on your existing equipment and then find an instrument that will support that musical objective. That might mean you end up with a Bach but with a different bell or leadpipe configuration from the standard 37 or you might end up with something completely different. If you get an instrument that matches the way you play it will take away one big obstacle to your music making.

![]() | Re: The perfect trumpet All of us are looking for the illusive "best" horn. All of them are compromises, some are just marketed better than others. Sometimes I think looking for horns is almost as much enjoyment as playing them--the constant chase. What I've found out there is almost more difference between two identical model horns that between two different manufacturers sometimes. Play as many as you can and don't rush in for the kill. Best wishes! |

![]() | Re: The perfect trumpet I would recommend that whatever you buy, you play a bunch of horns and buy the one that feels and sounds the best to YOU. It can be helpful to get advice from other players, but I think you have to play them instead of buying on a horn's reputation. best of luck with your horn shopping :)
