Lara,
I think what Frank means by the "Reka Stunt" is using the Reka cleaning kit to clean the leadpipe. Am I right?
Auf Wiedersehen,
Michael

Just one more comment, Lara. PLEASE go out and buy yourself a 5-leg K&M stand just for "Baby". I promise that you won't be sorry you did... they are FAR more stable than the 3-leg version. Honest.

oldlou has a spectacular aura about
Trumpet stand

Tootsall gives pretty good advice, but, a Hamilton stand is even better and sturdier. The novelty 'store in the bell' three legged stands are a real hazard. I had one fail and have seen four others fail, letting the trumpet crash to the floor. In each case the horn sustained severe damage. Do you want that to happen to your beautiful 'girl'? I know that some of the stand makers guarantee their product not to fail. That guarantee is ONLY for replacement of the failed stand, not for repair of damage done to the horn. Read the warrantee carefully.

Actually, I'm with Tootsall on this one. If the Hamilton stands, sturdy as they are, are those metal ones with three legs, then I have one of those, and I've put it away in favour of the K&M five (metal!) leg stand I use now. Any "tripod" design where the legs don't rest flat on the floor is an invitation to "tip me over". Ever wonder why you don't see four-leg rolling office chairs anymore? They're banned as a safety hazard.
Nothing flimsy about the K&M 5-leg, and because it rests on the floor, pretty much un-tippable (is that a word?) BTW, how exactly did the (three leg) store-in-bell stands "fail" - which part(s) gave way? They're not the most substantial pieces of equipment, but I'd never heard of them causing damage as you describe.

Oh, and NICE horn, Lara!

Here's what you do for a horn stand on an instrument of that caliber: drop $150 on a Torpedo Case. Since it sits flat on one end, there's your horn stand. Just slide it in or keep the instrument in your hands.

Right on! Both Tootsall and I are also satisfied Torpedo owners - I use it as a "second" stand on two horn gigs!

Reminds me of Jurassic Park. Leigh only makes women because he doesn't want them breeding without his control. Ok, I'm wierd...
