![]() | They are not for sale yet. I will present them for the first time at the Music Fair in Frankfurt this April. After the show, they will be available for sale. Actually,Leigh will not make them,he will just put them together and plate them,as well as help me with design a little. They will come to him in separate patrs, body and the bell. This way it would be easier to plate. ![]() | Congrats!! Congratulations Guys! I'm not sure if you've been able to play one of these horns but when you do, you'll be in for a treat! Felix is a great guy and deserves a great deal of credit for what he has accomplished in the competitive world of top line horns... Give them a blow, I swear it won't hurt... Felix, I'll see you in the morning! Tony G

| Forte User | I just feel like clearing up the whole thing a little bit. .................................... Felix has had this idea for a horn: Unique in its variable bore, with a design like an old, pre-1900 french besson, as well as the new age superhorns out there. Getting the best of both worlds, essentially. He spoke with Erwin Schmid, master trumpetsmith in Germany (Who also made the Evola, and makes other horns, but I am kinda cloudy on that), and after some time, and a LOT of work (There are some real unique things in the NY Stage 1 design, trust me), the Stage 1 was born. Felix, when creating the New York Trumpet Company, did not plan on just selling his own brand of horn (though he could be doing fine with just that). No, he wanted to completely corner the American market on hard-to-find, European horns and equipment. That way, he could have something for everyone. Hopefully show people what quality of horns are offered on the other side of the pond. In the process of amassing his inventory, he became friends with Leigh, and I am not sure how it came about, but Leigh has agreed to help with the design/build/modification of these new models: the California, and the Classic. Just the fact that Leigh's fingerprints will be found on these horns really adds some "First Class Brass" to these horns (Sorry, haha!). Quite seriously, I guarantee that having Leigh's name associated with the horns shows what kind of quality Felix is offering. Leigh wouldn't sully his hands on something that wasn't worth his time. The horns ain't gimmicks, guys. They play, and they play damned well, pardon my french. Not only that, they look and feel great in your hands. Also, the maker is a darned nice guy. It can't get much better than that, can it? I'm done. I got a review to get on! Haha, and congratulations, Dylan! I'm sure everyone here cant wait to hear your thoughts and opinions on the horn. Lord knows people here are getting tired of hearing mine! Van

![]() | Guys, did you forget about me? We all know the Leigh is the Best, but what about meeeeeee On the serious note, guys,I really don't like to advertise my horns at Leigh's expence, and i am sure he would not like it either. The last thing i want to do ,is upset him in any way,so let's just talk about trumpets. You guys have all been more than great to me and i don't mean in any way to be an ass at all. Please don't take offense to this. Felix |

![]() | I don't think that my last post sounded too good. What I meant to say, is that this is a great honor and a lifetime opportunity for anyone, to have your horns worked on by First Class Brass, and I really don't want to screw it up by advertising the wrong way. I got in trouble once, for the same reason. BTW, I would really like to hear your opinions on Lawler trumpets. I am really interested in any and all great horns out there. Let's all share our experiences. I will start a new thread on the subject. Felix |

![]() | OK - Now this seems a pretty sweet deal. This is a sponsor deal, where you guys play the horns just for the promo in the Playbill? What happens when the tour ends, or one of you quits, do you get to keep the instruments? I mean, those kind of gigs generally aren't thought of as long term engagements. I can see that Stage 1 is trying to establish some visibility, but that does seem like an awfully generous offer. It's cool if you can't divulge the details, but I felt like asking either way. I am picturing that each week you pack up the programs each week for the next gazillion shows to send to Felix as payment . |
