British people say often that I get what you pay for...TMike it is your turn there. If you are ready to spent as much as 2500Euros I would not go to stomvi...Well, that my personal opinion. I am great fan of spada as some TMers know already and you can get an excellent horn of theirs for about that price. Schagerl makes an excellent orchestra c trumpet (extra large bell) piston valve. If you want to look on the rotary side, probably schagerl is an excellent place to go as well. Taylor makes some good c trumpets, but I always found something I don't like about. Lechner is another brand that makes excellent horns, but rather on the rotary side.

Re: stomvi

I just picked up a couple of Stomvi instruments and am VERY pleased with my purchases. I'll second the comment about the Mahler Ti C. FANTASTIC horn! Intonation is spot on - no alternate fingerings. The horn is light and nimble and playes quite open.

Master Bb is an interesting horn. Still figuring this one out. Lots of pieces to play with. It does have just about the sweetest tone of any Bb I've ever owned. Quite rich and "trumpety," if you know what I mean. A little heavy but I'm going to order the Ti kit for it and maybe a lightweight bell.

Very nice valves indeed!

Sorry,
...but we all in Spain know that all Stomvi Master (fast all...)have problems with the third valve, and the horns are sent to the factory after some weeks to arrange it.
Some players had just the money back and a lot of discussion. Think Yamaha did a good business after some of the discussions with some of the soloists in the capital after having problems with the Master horns. My teacher in Liceo in Barcelona had problems too, and had sent the horn two or three times for valve jobs on the third. I won't to be mad against my colleagues and friends in the factory, they said me they are doing a great job researching for a new solution, and I know they will find it. Something great in Stomvi is the desire to do new things.
I should remember too, that originally (I'm not 100% sure), first models of Stomvi had Bach valves or had copies of it... Of course, now there is the best technologies...
I don't try to say you shouldn't play Stomvi. If I would like it, I would just buy it... and if there is some problem, then just fix it. They are very nice people.

Re: stomvi

Just curious, what kind of problems are they having with the third valves?

My Master is several years old and there is no hint of a problem, so perhaps the bad ones were before or after mine!
