Re: Trumpet Design-Our Experiences

The Schilke B5 has landed
Is in mint condition and plays like a dream. Took a couple of hours to get the feel of. It is well constructed and responsive. Far more free blowing than the Kanstul Besson. Took a good hour to get used to the intonation which is much truer than the Besson. I had to stop compensating a little on certain pitches. The first thing I noticed was the fact that the Schilke felt so good in my hand. I feel like I am more physically engaged rather than blowing through a hole and wiggling my fingers on a slab of metal. Was scared that I might loose a little fluidity for a while. This is not the case. Phrases flow out of the horn with a lot less effort than other horns I've played. Never played a Monette or Harrelson. This is the best horn I've played.

Re: Trumpet Design-Our Experiences

You're in good company by thinking Schilke makes great trumpets.

Timofei Dokshizer thought the ones he played were great too!
