The horn update:

After talking with Leigh yesterday, of which he relished in telling me my horn was in absolute pieces I was wondering what the term "beautiful wild" meant..... sounds like Leigh is going to make this a very interesting adventure. Should I be nervous?

Leigh where are those pics..... let's see my horn!

Just a thought - do you think Leigh ever saw Roy Lawler's square belled trumpet - I got a chance to play it at ITG in 1996. Don't worry - I'm sure he wouldn't ... Can you imagine the problem you would have finding a trumpet stand though...

Or mutes? One thing for sure...with a "square trumpet" he'd never be doing jazz gigs!

Hi Andy!

Great to see you posting on TM!!

Yes ive seen square trumpets before, not a bad idea at all.

Maybe others could throw a few suggestions into the hat too so i can do a bit of everything to it.
Anything weird or strange will be just fine, after all its not our horn is it.
We can use it like an experiment for all of our messed up design ideas?

What do you all think? I'm all for it!!

Regards

Leigh

PS I'm sure that Thevor has other horns anyway....

No matter what you do to the horn, I would suggest scratched Savannah. After I saw that finish I nearly wanted to cry. It's so rough looking but smooth to the touch. Would hand grips on the valve block be out of the question?

Since a scope is out of the question, maybe just a trigger mechanism to replace the third valve ring......

Copper accents might be a nice touch too.

I won't even say the word rope, Leigh.

Ropes.... square bells.... a finish called Savanah? At least there are some out there as skewed as I might be......

I'd get nervous if Leigh said that my horn was done but wanted to know what should be done with the "spare parts"..... well it's certainly is going to be a surprise and I'm still having fun.

Hi Alan

I am glad that you are pleased with it!

It did come out rather nice even if i do say so myself 8)

As for you Thevor youll be lucky to ever see that baby of yours again! the last time i saw it, our new trainee was attacking the bell flare3 with a 10 lb hammer it looked and sounded quite painful to be honest.

Stop worrying, you will get back an Olds Ambassador like no other trust me

Regards

Leigh

Leigh,

I hope you've showed your trainee how to keep his hands out of the way of that big hammer..........
