Re: Valve Venting

Yes it is.

Being a good sport is being of good nature of good cheer. Having fun with a discussion. Enjoying life as it comes. Band or no Band. "To vent or not to vent, that is the question" Shakespere once said. Well, maybe he didn't say it just like that.

You are right.
Here in the States we say "If it ain't broke - don't fix it."

Tomorrow is one of My Nation's best Holidays; Independence Day, July 4th. I'll sip some Bourbon in your honor.

Salute!

Re: Valve Venting

I play a B&S Challenger II (in lieu of my Bach Strad 37 Bb I used to play) and love the vented slides (both first and third). I'm a more lyrical player, but it helps with more technical solos with jumps to be able to kick out either the first or third slides in advance. The venting does have drawbacks, but they're trivial. One has to have a really upward position to lose the first valve slide, so that's never happened to me, and the third slide isn't a problem at all if you have you screw on right and all that jazz. I've never had either slide fall OUT, but third slide is prone to slide out all the way, which is almost never a problem, but just took me a while to get used to on page turns, et cetera.
