I'm looking forward to playing the horn in a couple of different venues, and will post my impressions here. I should have it in my hands by the end of the week. Phil...thanks for your response...it helped me decide to try the MV2 first. ![]() | Re: Van Cleave MV2 and MV 4 Trumpets Well folks, I had an opportunity to play the MV2. The one I received for trial was in a great little case with a shoulder strap as well as backpack straps. Very nice. The trumpet was beautiful without any flaws in the workmanship that I could find. The silver plate was bright and even, and the valves and slides all worked very well. When I played it, I liked the tone very much (not too bright, not too dark), but found it played tight compared to my King (and other horns I've owned that worked for me). I did not have any issues with intonation, and the slotting was very good...articulation was noticeably better than the King. But after playing it for a while, the blow was just too tight for me. I pulled it out the next day and tried again, but the longer I played it, the tighter it felt. Phil, I really did try to let the horn do some work for me, but with my setup, I am much more comfortable on a horn that blows quite free. That said, I think the horn is a great value for the money for someone who likes a horn with some resistance. | New Friend | Re: Van Cleave MV2 and MV 4 Trumpets Greg- Thanks for trying the horn and for your honest feedback. The only other thing I can reccomend is opening up the leadpipe. I do not know how this is done. Mark opened up mine. You can always E-Mail Mark and his business manager from the http://www.vancleavetrumpets.com site and ask them. Thanks again for your input.

![]() | Re: Van Cleave MV2 and MV 4 Trumpets This is one of the more useless posts on TM. Don't post that you dislike something, or even worse HATE something, unless you are willing to tell us why you didn't like them. THis site is all about information. The only information we have from your posts is that someone who is new to TM doesn't like MVC trumpets.

'nuff said! Like Bandman and others have said.... If you want to review a horn, you have our blessings and our attention, otherwise, don't waste our time...or yours. -cw-

![]() | Re: Van Cleave MV2 and MV 4 Trumpets I agree with Bandman and SolarBell - my wife and I both play trumpet and we can't agree on mouthpieces or horns. That doesn't mean either one of us is right or wrong, we just have different wants and needs in our equipment. We have only ever agreed on one horn [the Yamaha Mike Vax] but on every other horn what worked for one didn't work for the other. I would never say I hated any well built horn just that it did not work for me. I have played many different Lawlers and only really liked 3, is that saying Lawlers are junk - NO WAY. Roy builds very fine horns but he builds them to fit your needs. Sorry about the rant, its been a bad morning. Dave
