Yes Bach's will show up weaknesses, totally agree. Where we disagree is that, even if you're an amateur, you should work on them not ignore them... they will not go away because you decide to play another type of trumpet.

If you were able to discern that last statement from my comment as quoted, then I suggest you go back to school and do English. You need to re-take comprehension.

I'd love to banter some more but I'm off to practice...remember that?

Regards,

Trevor

Actually, you might want to reread my post again where I actually do agree with what you just wrote:

Quote:
My goal as an amateur player, who has a limited amount of time to spend on the horn, is to have an instrument which I will not have to fight against, an instrument that can insure all of the problems in my playing are me and not the horn.
Maybe I do have comprehension problems (although a 36 out of 36 on the reading portion of the ACT tells me otherwise); but, when I read that, I see an acknowledgement of problems I have as a player and a willingness to work on them. Ignoring them would be the furtherest thing from my mind. If I were going to do that, I'd just keep honking away on pep band music from high school and ignore the Arban, Chicowicz Flow Studies, Concone (horrible for sound!), Iron's, Charlier, Bousquet, etc. sitting on my shelf. What you can be assured of is that there are plenty of horns that will make your life much easier than a Bach ML 37 will.

I would highly recommend the B flat trumpet made by Tony Scodwell. There is a very nice write up @ www.washingtonmusic.com ...

The finest trumpet I have ever played.

All the best ... Michael
