![]() | Re: What's different about k-modified? As per my conversation with Clark Terry several years ago concerning these wonderful horns, Keith Eckert is the K of K Modified. He worked for Selmer USA and was responsible for several changes on the original Selmer ideas. Clark Terry played many classic recordings on the K's and then he later switched to the Radials. Also, Timofei Dokshutzer played a K for quite some time. These are Great Horns! |

I might be mistaken, but I believe that Buck Clayton played the same type of Selmer as Sweets. Yes, Wynton played a K Modified briefly in the early eighties.....I remember seeing him on Phil Donahue's show play a "K". The Quincy Jones Orchestra trumpet section all played K's....The Late Great Floyd Standifer still played the Selmer flugel that he got while with Quincy up until he passed away recently. | |

![]() | Re: What's different about k-modified? I , unfortunately, can't recall the model number - but there is a late 40's / early 50's selmer that was NOT a K modified - but built off the same platform - it had a bit more open blow than the K's i've played and was quite similar to the martin comitee medium bore - maybe more even across the range.... less resistance up top.... great horn and i think thats what harper plays -- i know r kisor owns one.... |
