![]() | I took a trip to Dallas this weekend and while I was there, I was in hopes to find a few stores that had some of the better horns to try. I called around and found nothing but Brook Mays and all they had was school horns. I couldn't believe that in all of the Dallas metroplex there was no where to look at really good trumpets. If any of you are familiar with the Dallas area and know of a place I would love to know about it. I live 90 miles east of there in Tyler. There is a couple of small shops here but nothing I'm interested in. I own a 1960 Holton Collegiate. That is in bad need of a valve job but the horn just isn't worth investing in. I also own a newly aquired 1957 Olds Recording that I love. It is so smooth and has a pure rich tone. but I want to sample some other things and try some other mouthpieces like the Lynch Asymmetrical. Any advice would be great. |

![]() | Re: Where to sample good horns?? Here are a couple places to try - I'd call and talk to them before I'd make the drive - be sure what they have in stock: David's Instrument Repair - Dallas Pro Shop David's Instruments ©2007 1215 S. Broadway Carrollton, Texas 75006 Telephone: 972-242-7707 • email - dir1215@sbcglobal.net Rivard Brothers (Getzen & Cannonball) 2425 W Arkansas Ln # A Pantego, TX 76013 (817) 459-2263 Horn Haven - carry an extended line - haven't been in direct contact with them - but impressed by their site - I'd give them a call - plus David's Horn's lists them as a link: Horn Haven
