![]() | Re: Work on your horn? Mouthpipe - I'd like to try this, if only to see if there's something better, e.g. different tapers, materials, and possibly a reverse set-up Alignment - already done! (marked improvement) Heavy caps - tried these (Curry CCaps); one on the 3rd valve helped a little, no effect for the other two. I wound up with the CCap brass washer in the regular Benge cap on the 3rd valve. Finish i.e. Lacquer vs raw/ plating - I plan to keep it silver (can't afford gold) Bracing - I'd like to try this, if only to see if there's something better. I'm not sure if I'm a good enough player to tell the difference except in the extreme Other - adjust the gap. Again, I'd like to try this, if only to see if there's something better. I'm not sure if I'm a good enough player to tell the difference except in the extreme Regards, Bob Eye Dallas, TX |

![]() | Re: Work on your horn? I love my Wild Thing, so I would not want anything done to tweak the performance. My ideal mods would be more for comfort. If I knew it would NOT affect how the horn plays, 1) Move the third valve slide finger ring closer to the valve cluster. (not necessary if #3 is done) 2) Change the crooks to rings for the first valve slide and pinky. 3) Instead of #1 above, and if I ever got brave enough, I would love to have a linkage like the Mendez for the third valve, but have the ring below the slide.
