![]() | Re: 1923 Conn OK, that makes the model a Connstellation. Either a 36B or a 38B. The 36B has a 4 5/8" bell, the 38B has a 5 1/8" bell. Regards, Christine

| New Friend | Re: 1923 Conn What else can you say about this? Is it a good model considering it's not very well maintained ? I consider buying a new Yamaha YTR-1335 , which one would you prefer ? An old Conn or a brand new Yamaha ( for a beginner student like me ) ? |

![]() | Re: 1923 Conn Hi, The Connstellations were wonderful horns in their time, and one in fine shape still is! However, from the description of the one you were given, it is totally worn out and now is very hard to play. I wouldn't recommend it to a new student like yourself, you'll just get frustrated trying to play on it. Your instructor was kind to give you a horn to start with, but I'd definately recommend a horn in great condition if you can afford it, including good student horns. You need a horn that is easy to play and that will not hold you back . . . or you'll give up in frustration! Sincerely, Tom Turner |

| New Friend | Re: 1923 Conn Thanks for your advices, Here in Turkey , a Yamaha YTR-1335 costs about 1000YTLs that makes 710$ and I can also buy a Fox USA for 200$. Taxes are annoying as you see. I'll also have to buy a good , big mouthpiece since I'm "meatball-lipped" (Turkish language ) :). Is Fox USA a good brand ( considering that price difference ) ? My second question is ; I see most of you have custom combinations of horns and mouthpieces. Is it good or bad ? Do different brands work well together ? Thanks for your time , again Sahin |

| New Friend | Re: 1923 Conn it is a really great horn with an awesome bright sound. it's just a little stuffy. the director of bands at oregon state university played it once and really liked it, but he also said it was kinda stuffy. i don't play it at school though because the sound is so different from everyone else, i play my yamaha. |
