Cleveland 602 cornet...played one before??

I just pulled the trigger on what I though was a good deal on ebay and purchased this cleveland 602 cornet for $56, $74 after s&h. I'll be playing again for the first time in nearly 10 yrs. I'm not familiar with this horn and was wondering if anyone has played one of these before and what you thought. Is it a student model? The serial # makes it a 1965-1970.
Here is what it looks like:

VINT KING CLEVELAND 602 SILVER CORNET TRUMPET W/CASE - eBay (item 300223251692 end time May-18-08 09:36:27 PDT)

Thanks for your thoughts!

I learned to play on an older one, about 1963 vintage. My nephew's learning on it now. It's a heavy, sturdy, stuffy horn that doesn't play too well, in my opinion. I may have been spoiled by better horns after all these years, however. Hope it works for you.

Of the cornets I have right now, one is a Cleveland Superior 602.
It's stuffy like Dale said, with a bit of a dead feel to it. However, you can coax a decent tone out of it. Just not as full as some of my other horns. Maybe mine is more worn than yours, or it's a bad example. That happens sometimes. Here's a link to a catalog from 1960. Mine is a 1962/63 horn too. Your silver version dates between 1965/70. Good luck with yours !

Thanks for your input. I figured I wouldn't go too crazy on a horn at first then once I get my chops back and a better horn will make a difference in my sound then I can start to look for something a better.
