Ed, what a beautiful pair!

Are you sure Lethbridge is ready for them ... and have you started the counselling process for the rest of your band?

Be sure to send a pointer to Ted Sparks so he can see his MP in gold plate. Does Leigh have another MP for your trumpet to prep too?

Congratulations, Ed, on your beautiful, new horns. As always, Leigh has done a magnificent job and you are the lucky beneficiary.

I have a second Boston 3-star to send to Leigh and have restored. I am tempted to go for the scratched/plate gold finish like you, but think I will just stick with plate gold. That will be my matched set - a silver and a gold plate pair of vintage Bostons.

Yep, even my wife has forgiven me already! :) (Of course, the payoff for her is going to be in the fall when she gets her 20th anniversary present).

Can't disagree, Alan. Now I know how "Pinch me, I'm dreaming" Thevor felt when he saw the first pictures of his Olds remake, or Paul when he saw his "White Lightning" coming together. It's a good feeling; everybody should experience it at least once in their lifetime!

Kind of strange... the Eterna looks like I thought it would look... but at the same time it looks waaaaay better. I used to really lust after the Lawler cornet in same finish...but now that I've seen these pictures I think the Eterna actually looks better! The MR isn't exactly shabby neither.

Now I guess I better find some microfibre cloth and make a couple of protective bags for them: can't afford any unnecessary damage to that finish. I KNOW! I'll buy a half dozen bottles of Crown Royal and sew the bags together.... cool! A nice, crown "Royal Purple" bag. (Anybody got a bunch of spares? I don't think I can drink that much rye...even if it is CR).

PS: All of the photos are available at http://www.photobucket.com .
Just enter "Tootsall" for the album name and the password "shredder" for "read only" access. Then click around through the sub-albums.

(That's a great free service, by the way)

Mmm, Crown Royal. *drool*

Actually, I use the bag as a mute from time to time when I want a little softer sound when I don't want to use a flugel.

WOW!!! the new Pics look great.. I bet it plays amazing..

Quick question: Did he take all the little pull knobs off?? My Getzen Cornet came with some of them missing ( It's not in the best shape) & I was thinking about having them just unsolder the one on the tuning slide which is the only one left.. NOW you make me want to go get all my done even through I don;t have all the mopney saved up yet..

Eventually I'm going to have my Getzen , Bb Cornet, Eb Cornet & Flugel all done in Satin silver with Gold Highlights & Gold Wash bell.. I'll post before & after when I get them done..
