screamingmorris has a spectacular aura about
identifying old King trumpets?

Someone in my town has an old trumpet for sale.
He says that it has "King" and "Cleveland" on the bell.
How does a person distinguish the various King models, such as professional from student?
Are the model names and numbers stamped or engraved somewhere on the trumpets?

Cleveland was their intermediate line. There are two sites I know of that are devoted to H.N. White (King) .

The H. N. White Company.

Re: identifying old King trumpets?

I have a King Cleveland trumpet that is 40 yrs. old, based on the serial number.
It is really easy to blow, due to the medium bore. The valves are faster than my 7 yr old Silver Flair. The lacquer was really ugly, so I stripped it. Now it looks good and plays great.
