Re: martin committee

Yes, it is worth something. Maybe quite a bit. Suggest you go to ebay and search their completed sales in advanced search and see what they are going for. I think there are some currently on ebay. Rather prized horn by many.

Re: martin committee

Also, go over to trumpetherald and under the "Horns" thread you will find one entitiled. "Here's a list of on-line sources for Used Trumpets"
Long list of links to sellers, a number of which do list some used Committee's. For example, Quality-Brass has one for $2250, another for $1450; Trumpettrader has a 60 model for $2000: Wichita band instruments just sold one for $1850. Many forum members have them.

Re: martin committee

Hi, your committee horn 15xxxx is a 1946 era. If it has fancier engraving on the bell its the Deluxe model. The price depends on the condition, but if in good condition its a gteat horn ---Gar

Why, in Heaven's name, would you sell it? You're not a dreaded "speculator", are you?

Forget "what's it worth" (monetarily). Play that horn!

Re: martin committee

Why not just put it on ebay and see? That's the plan right? Folks here aren't going to be able to help you nail down the Buy-it-Now price without thoroughly checking it out in person. If you aren't able to do that as a player yourself, you are unlikely to accurately say the things players look for to fetch that top price.

Perhaps I am incorrect in my assumption, but I see this pattern a lot... First-time posters probe these forums and then borrow phrases from it or refer potential ebayers to the forum where everybody raves about the horn.

I hope I am incorrect and you are just wanting to make sure all the grandkids are getting equal values in the inheritance, or whatever. But gosh... if all you are iterested in is "worth" do a search on ebay for what these things have historically sold for. The horn is only worth the sound that comes out of it (and by that standard, even my Bach 37 ain't worth a whole lot :P)

Re: martin committee

I confess that I've quit replying to these kind of threads as well. The "what's it worth so I can put it up on ebay?" game is gets old quick.

Here's a tip: just put the horn up on ebay for 7-10 days with no reserve and start the auction at $1. Take good pictures, describe the condition accurately and wait and see. You'll get what the horn's worth no problem.
