Is it really worth buying an old horn? - Page 3

I wish I were, Dave.... but alas we just won't have time. We have friends in Bavaria (about 25 km from the shop of Mr. Hans Straub) and will be spending the first week driving around Switzerland, the 2nd week in Bavaria doing the "must do" things, and the last week along the Danube down into Austria and back.

BUT...I'm planning my retirement gift to myself and other half and it happens to include a trip to London (or more specifically, Luton).

Probably 3-4 years from now.

Are you a "standard" kinda guy? I have a 47 standard that might fit the bill, got it pretty cheap too if I remember right.

Umm...I'm considered "standard"... got all the requisite bits and pieces and they're all still working.

Oh... you meant....ahhhh. No, I'm afraid I've already done my pennance with a Bach. Living happy in the land of low impedance these days.

Actually I just checked, it's an Olds special w/factory inspection card and nice original case! 1947 vintage.

I can readily envision a lesser number of meals in 4 and 5 star restaurants while in Europe for the Tootsall family.

I can't understand them either, can't a guy have a hobby? It's sorta like stamps but stamps don't take a case and wind up in the garage, the closets, attic and office floor. Shheessshhhhh. They just don't get it.

When I started off to learn trumpet I told my wife that it was a "hobby" less expensive than buying sports cars and more socially acceptable than acquiring a mistress.

Not sure I didn't lose on both counts!
