Looks like it won't be this exact horn, though - I must be the only doofus in the history of eBay who couldn't set up an account (it'll probably end up saving me a fortune). I'll talk to the guys at the music store about getting one of these through them in about a year, like I originally planned. (I understand they'll look a lot harder for a new one than a used one, but who knows what somebody may bring in to trade?) The Capri looks a lot like the Wonder, and if the wrap is similar maybe the sound will be, but it probably makes sense to test the horn before committing to it. | |

![]() | Re: Replacing a vintage cornet Assuming you have a period mouthpiece to match age of the horn, you may or may not like how it performs on a modern cornet. I've tried old-timey mouthpieces on my modern cornets and have never liked them. My experience is that a nice cornet is turned into a dull and unresponsive cornet. Something about the design of the typical 100 year old mouthpiece just doesn't match a modern horn. Many old ones work very well on horns of the same vintage, though. Try it when you get a new cornet - you can never tell, but I'll bet you will want a modern mouthpiece, too.
