![]() | Re: Reworking a 1944 Conn 12B Coprion. Hi Christine, I have looked very carefully at the horn and cannot find a serial number anywhere. Is there something I am missing? I will send pix along with my next post. I know that my Dad was given the horn in the Summer of 1944, other than that, nothing to report...yet. I will ask him though. Jay |

![]() | Re: Reworking a 1944 Conn 12B Coprion. The left side middle valve casing is too worn to read the numbrs, but I htought that is what I was seeing originally. Oh well, maybe they can be brought out and determined at the shop. Thanks, Jay BTW, how do you get your signature to display at the bottom of the post? In order to avoid giving away the surprise you could show him that Web page at the Conn Loyalist ("Hey, Dad, here's a Coprion bell just like yours!") and pretend to have an opinion about which is better, original or refinished, in order to provoke him into stating his opinion. Some people look at the refinished Coprion bell and say "Copper!" while others say "Pink!". It's all in the eye of the beholder. "BTW, how do you get your signature to display at the bottom of the post?" I type it in every time. There is probably an automatic way, but I am too old and apathetic to lean how - morris | |

![]() | Re: Reworking a 1944 Conn 12B Coprion. Hey good luck with your dad's trumpet....BUT if you do get it "reworked" don't let them touch the original laquer on the bell....Man I love that original dark, rosy laquer on them oldies. Most people that get the Coprion horns that get relaquered have that "pink" look to them.....I think it's a turn off...if you ask me. So if the copper bell still has the original laquer intact....try to leave it that way. PLEASE Post pics like a Before and After.......

![]() | Re: Reworking a 1944 Conn 12B Coprion. I'm thinking that a Coprion-belled horn could be relacquered using a slightly dark tinted lacquer (what some call gold lacquer) instead of clear, and the aged vintage lacquer look would be somewhat preserved. New finish and no pink bell that way, but you'd have to find a shop that worked with tinted lacquers.

![]() | Re: Reworking a 1944 Conn 12B Coprion. Yes, actually. I hadn't thought of that. The serial number should be stamped on top of each valve. See 3rd picture from the top: The Conn Loyalist Regards, Christine

![]() | Thank you all for the assistance. I found the serial number on top of the valves. Conn 12B #326623 was made in 1939. The 2nd year that the coprion was made and, apparently at this time, a fairly rare horn. I am going to get it buffed up, and give it back to my Pop this Summer when I go to see him. Thanks again very much, Jay |
