Other than two small dings this thing looks brand new, I can't tell if it was ever played, well, it has been now anyways! LOL! I was surprised how well it does sound, I only bought it because it was so pretty but was pleasantly surprised!
I am going to keep trying to get better pictures so when my old 80A gets back from Andersons I can post some pretty pics of it too.

What is the rotary key for? Turning it to an a trumpet? Ace!

No..I replied just to the right one...it had a york trumpet with some rotary valve at the end of the leadpipe. I guess that it is turning the B flat into an A trumpet

Do a "right click"/properties on the pictures and you'll see widely varying pixel and mb sizes for them. It's mostly a function of the original picture and the photohosting site. Once you start getting up around 25 mb pictures you'll be into the decent sized ones. Some can be so huge that you have to scroll the page back and forth to see the whole thing. 640X480 pixel is about the largest that you should try to put up. Many of the photohosting services have an option to allow you to "resize" down to that range. None (that I've found) allow you to upsize.

Re: VINTAGE HORN EYE CANDY

Yes Nick, that is a pretty common rotary A to Bb for several horns of that era. This is the first York I ever picked up and I must say I was quite surprised, it sounds very nice and really is a joy to play. I only wish I could find more info about them.

Here's my 1904 HN White Cornet - $150 in the original wooden case. Plays well w/original MP which I cleaned up.

Re: VINTAGE HORN EYE CANDY

So, yesterday my wife picks me up after work and says the church where she works is having a rummage sale and she picked up an old cornet that I should look at and see if I want.

Well, I'm not much into cornets, so when I get it home I open the case and find this:

Cool, eh?

Actaully, OK, I had to clean it up a bit, but that's about it.

I believe, based on the S/N 290623, that its a Conn Director from the late 20's. Sweet valves, sweet sound, sweet silver finish - the pictures don't do it justice!

Go ahead and drool!

Greg
