Re: VINTAGE HORN EYE CANDY

Here's a pretty cool cornet made by Keefer in Williamsport P.A. This particular cornet has a rotary valve that allows the horn to switch keys -- From A to B.

Except for a little tarnishing, the horn is in perfect condition.

I know that it was manufactured by the Brua C. Keefer Company which ceased production in 1941 and that every cornet in produced by the company was tested by Cornetist John Hazel. But that's about all I know about this horn or the rotary valve.

Can anyone tell me more about this cornet or the quality of Keefer cornets in general? (see photos attached)

Thanks

Contact Ken at Warburton, as they have the vintage Conn short shank measurements from a 1930's Conn 4 I sent them and can do a backbore to your favorite size. The price was about the same as their stock backbores. Try a 4BC cup for an authentic cornet sound.

Yes indeed! I'm afraid that I've been suffering from a bad case of KIAD (King instruments acquisition disorder) and VTAD (vintage trumpet acquisition disorder) ever since purchasing my first vintage king.

Re: VINTAGE HORN EYE CANDY

Here's a pic of my vintage Martin Committee Flugel. It's lots of fun to play-good solo horn but not great for section work though.
